The story in the picture
Basel Fine Art Poster Vertical, drawn live
Basel, Hand-Drawn — Fine Art Poster in Portrait Format
This is the same hand-drawn Basel composition that's available as a canvas print — now also as a portrait fine art paper print in A4 to A1 — the most affordable way to bring it home.
The detailed black and white ink drawing celebrates the artistic heart of Switzerland: Basel's iconic architecture, its vibrant atmosphere and its artistic heritage. The original artwork was featured in Basel's oldest gallery, Galerie Hilt.

Basel: how this picture was made
No studio, no photo to trace: I sat down in Basel with a folding chair, dip pen and ink and drew the city right where it happens. These photos are from that trip.

The artist
Heiner Radau
I set out from my hometown Berlin in 2014 – to London and Paris, to Southeast Asia with Vietnam and Laos, to Valencia, Brussels and Basel.
In every city I stay for weeks and draw live on the street. By now it's twelve cities – and a new one is added every year.
