Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin
The art school of the East. Founded in 1946, Weißensee was the GDR-era counterpart to the UdK in the West — this is where East Berlin's painters, sculptors and designers were trained. Today more than 800 people study here, from painting to fashion to textile design. And quite a few sprayers from the scene turn up again in the sculpture and painting programmes.
