The story in the picture
Amsterdam Fine Art Poster Horizontal, drawn live
Amsterdam, Hand-Drawn — Fine Art Poster in Landscape Format
This is the same hand-drawn Amsterdam composition that's available as a canvas print — now also as a landscape fine art paper print in A4 to A1 — the most affordable way to bring it home.
The detailed black and white ink drawing celebrates the spirit of Amsterdam: its iconic canals, charming bridges and historic architecture, amongst many hidden details. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and the urban heritage of the Dutch capital — and discover something new in it every day.
Drawn on location
Amsterdam: how this picture was made
No studio, no photo to trace: I sat down in Amsterdam with a folding chair, dip pen and ink and drew the city right where it happens. These photos are from that trip.

The artist
Heiner Radau
I set out from my hometown Berlin in 2014 – to London and Paris, to Southeast Asia with Vietnam and Laos, to Valencia, Brussels and Basel.
In every city I stay for weeks and draw live on the street. By now it's twelve cities – and a new one is added every year.
