The story in the picture

Berlin Fine Art Poster, drawn live

The Real Berlin — Now as a Fine Art Poster

This is the same hand-drawn Berlin composition that's available as a canvas print — now offered as a museum-quality fine art paper print at a more accessible price.

Berlin as I have known it since childhood — drawn line by line with pen and ink, live on the street. I grew up on the corner of Metzer Straße and Kollwitzstraße in Prenzlauer Berg, and those places are not just in the picture, they are my story. No postcard Berlin: this is the city of graffiti writers, backyards, U-Bahn stations and the people I really know.

A hand-drawn map of more than 60 real Berlin places, graffiti and details — from the TV Tower, the World Clock at Alexanderplatz, the Victory Column and the Oberbaum Bridge to the East German Ampelmännchen and the Berlin manhole cover with the bear.

The artist

Heiner Radau

I set out from my hometown Berlin in 2014 – to London and Paris, to Southeast Asia with Vietnam and Laos, to Valencia, Brussels and Basel.

In every city I stay for weeks and draw live on the street. By now it's twelve cities – and a new one is added every year.
